Insidebeer.com: Everything You Need to Know About Beer Faucets

As a beer lover, there’s nothing quite like a cold, refreshing draft beer poured from a beer faucet. But have you ever wondered about the mechanics behind this seemingly simple process? In this article, we’ll explore everything you need to know about beer faucets, from their importance to the different types available on the market.

What is a Beer Faucet?

Simply put, a beer faucet is a component of a draft beer dispensing system that is responsible for pouring beer by pushing or pulling a handle. It is connected to the beer line through a shank and is an essential element of any draft beer system.

Why are Beer Faucets Important?

Having the right type of beer faucet is crucial to ensuring that your draft beer dispensing system works efficiently and that your beer is served in perfect condition. A faulty or poorly designed faucet can result in tap leaks, malfunctions, and other problems that can affect the quality of your beer and your customer's satisfaction.

Types of Beer Faucets

Beer faucets come in several types and varieties, including:

  1. Material and Finish
  • Brass or chrome-plated brass beer faucet
  • Stainless steel beer faucet
  1. Tap System
  • Rear sealing beer faucet (the most common variety)
  • Self-closing beer faucet (closes itself immediately upon release)
  • Forward sealing beer faucet (aka Perlick beer faucet)
  • Flow control faucet (with this type, you can regulate the pouring speed)
  • Stout beer faucet (used for pouring nitrogen-dispensed beer, namely Guinness)
  1. Configuration
  • Beer faucet and shank separately
  • Beer faucet and shank combo

At Insidebeer.com, we offer a wide selection of beer faucets and related accessories, including standard stainless steel beer faucets, Perlick taps, Nukatap faucets, Intertap faucets, and other brands.

Draft Beer Faucet Finishes

Beer faucets also come in various finishes, including:

  • Chrome finish (most widespread variety)
  • Gold
  • Black

Stout Faucets

Stout faucets are designed primarily for pouring nitrogen-dispensed beers such as Guinness, which gives that iconic, instantly recognizable cascading effect. While designed for pouring ales and stouts, you can use a stout tap to pour regular CO2-dispensed beers by removing the restrictor disc.

Creamer Faucets

Creamer faucets differ from other types mostly because of their creamer action handle. To operate this faucet, you pull the lever forward as normal to get the beer pouring. To finish off the pour, push the lever back, creating the perfect amount of creamy head.

How Does a Beer Faucet Work?

In a system that uses replaceable beer kegs, when you pull (or push) the tap on the beer faucet, the pressurized gas from a gas tank at the end of the system pushes the beer out of the keg via an airline that runs from the gas tank to the keg.

Via another PVC tube called the beer line, the beer travels to the draft beer tower through the shank and straight into the faucet, from which it pours nicely into a glass.

Choosing the Right Beer Faucet

At Insidebeer.com, we offer a wide selection of beer faucets to suit any preference, from simple brass kegerator faucets to forward-sealing Perlick keg faucets. When selecting a beer faucet, consider factors such as your draft beer system's technical requirements, the faucet's design and finish, and your budget.

In addition to beer faucets, we also supply faucet shanks, beer tap faucet parts, and various accessories to help you get the most out of your draft beer dispensing system.

Beer faucets are an essential part of any draft beer system, as they allow for a controlled pour and a better overall beer-drinking experience. There are various types of beer faucets available on the market, each with its own unique features and benefits. Understanding the differences between these faucets and how they work can help you make an informed decision when selecting a faucet for your home or commercial beer system. Additionally, regular cleaning and maintenance of your beer faucet is crucial to ensure that it continues to function properly and dispense high-quality beer. Overall, investing in a high-quality beer faucet can make all the difference in the taste and enjoyment of your beer, so be sure to choose wisely and care for your faucet properly to keep it in optimal condition.
