UK Beer Sales Pick Up

Print
News: August 2018

Sales of beer in the UK rose in the second quarter of 2018, according to figures released by the British Beer & Pub Association.

The organisation's Beer Barometer shows that overall beer sales were up 3.6% over the same period last year, although – with the growth driven by off-trade business, which was up 7.7% – on-trade sales declined by 1% during the twelve months.

Good weather and the beginning of the FIFA World Cup finals have been credited for much of the upturn and the BBPA continues to campaign for lower beer duty to arrest the long-term decline in on-trade beer sales.
