Cornish Micropub Brings Back Returnable Bottles

News: June 2018

A micropub in Cornwall has furthered its green credentials by introducing returnable glass bottles for its range of bespoke beers.

The Barrel at Bude retails a selection of ales which are brewed using Cornwall-grown hops at the Dowr Kammel brewery at St Breward and these are now sold in bottles that can be returned to the bar, with ten pence per bottle paid to the customer as an incentive.

The bottles are then steam cleaned and shipped back to the brewery for sterilisation and refilling. Waterproof labels ensure that the bottles can be used many times.
