BrewDog Reveals Dragons’ Den Failure

News: May 2018

Scottish brewery BrewDog has revealed that its founders once applied to appear on the investment reality TV show Dragons’ Den but were rejected.

James Watt and Martin Dickie made the application in 2009, a couple of years after starting the business. However, after a screen trial, producers decided not to put them on air.

Watt and Dickie had been prepared to offer the Dragons 20% of the business in return for an investment of £100,000. Since that time the value of BrewDog has soared to a current estimate of £1.8 billion, meaning the Dragons’ potential investment would now have been worth £360 million.
