CAMRA Unveils Its Pub and Club Champions

The Campaign for Real Ale has announced the winners of its national Pub of the Year and Club of the Year awards.

The best pub is the Cricketers Arms in St Helens, Merseyside, which has won the award just five years after being closed and boarded up. The runners-up are the Wigan Central in Wigan, the Stanford Arms in Lowestoft and the Weavers Real Ale House in Kidderminster.

The best club is the Flixton Conservative Club in Manchester, which saw off challenges from runners-up the Albatross Club in Bexhill-on-Sea (the 2016 winner), the Real Ale Farm in Bargoed and another previous winner, Appleton Thorn Village Hall in Warrington.
