Weekly Pub Closures Fall

Print
News: July 2016

Figures released by the Campaign for Real Ale reveal that the net number of pubs closing in the UK every week has fallen.

The number of closures has dropped from twenty-seven to twenty-one in the last six months, but CAMRA states that the rate of closure is still ‘alarmingly high’, with rural and suburban pubs suffering the most.

CAMRA notes the success of measures put in place to buttress the pub sector but is still calling for people all over the UK to continue to support their local pub and is continuing to lobby the Government on planning issues that may help save pubs from being demolished or converted to other uses.
