Lost Manchester Beers Revived

Print
News: May 2016

Beers from Manchester’s past are being brought back to life for this year's Manchester Beer Week.

Three of the beers have been unearthed in the archives of JW Lees and have been reformulated for today’s tastes and techniques with the help of brewing historian Ron Pattinson.

Blackjack Brewery is producing Lees’ 1951 C Ale, a strong dark beer, Squawk Brewing is taking on Lees’ 1952 Stout and Beer Nouveau is recreating Lees XXX strong ale from 1903. A fourth beer, Invalid Stout, once brewed by the defunct Heginbotham’s brewery, is being revived by Tickety Brew.

Manchester Beer Week takes place 10–19 June.
