AB InBev to Sell Pilsner Urquell

Print
News: April 2016

In order to secure regulatory approval for its take-over of SABMiller, AB InBev has offered to sell off SABMiller’s central and eastern European brewing interests.

On the table are breweries in Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic, including the Pilsner Urquell brewery – the birthplace of golden lager. The rights to Pilsner Urquell in the US have already been sold to Molson Coors. Other brands affected include Tyskie, Lech, Ursus and the Hungarian Dreher.

The move follows the recent sale of Peroni, Grolsch and Meantime to Asahi for the same reasons.
