New Body to Represent the Pub Trade

Print
News: December 2015

A new organisation has been established to give a unified voice to the UK’s publicans.

The British Pub Confederation brings together twelve organisations with interests in supporting those who work in the pub industry. These include Justice for Licensees, the Fair Pint Campaign, Punch Tenant Network, the Federation of Small Businesses, the Guild of Master Victuallers, the Parliamentary Save the Pub Group and the Scottish Licensed Trade Association.

The Confederation is co-ordinated and governed by a steering group, made up of appointees from the various bodies, and Greg Holland MP has been appointed first chair.

The key issues of focus for the Confederation are ‘ensuring that the Government implements promised reforms to the large pubco tied model, better protection for pubs from predatory purchasing, fairer taxation for pubs including specific pub specific measures and fairer business rates, a fair and sensible licensing regime and responsible retailing and supermarket pricing’.
