Italy Gains a Trappist Brewery

Print
News: May 2015

A monastery in Italy has become the latest Trappist community to launch its own beer.

The Tre Fontane (Three Fountains) abbey in Rome now joins ten other Trappist breweries around the world.

The community's 8.5% ABV beer is flavoured with eucalyptus grown in the gardens around the monastery. The plant was initially cultivated there to combat malaria during the nineteenth century.
