Castle Eden Name Revived

Print
News: May 2015

One of the North-East's best-known beer names is to return with the opening of a small brewery in Seaham, County Durham.

Castle Eden, founded in the town of the same name in 1826 as J Nimmo & Sons, was one of the last outposts of the Whitbread empire until it was sold in the late 1990s and then closed in 2002. The beer was subsequently brewed by Camerons in Hartlepool.

Now former Castle Eden sales director Cliff Walker and his business partner David Travers have acquired the rights to the Castle Eden name from A-B InBev and plan to start production in the near future.
