Historians Unite to Recreate Forgotten Ales

Print
News: February 2015

Two of the best-known beer historians have joined forces to resurrect beers that have been lost in the mists of time.

Author Peter Haydon, who is now brewer and owner of A Head in a Hat Brewing, based at the Florence pub in south London, has teamed up with Ron Pattinson, best known for his brewery archive work and his Shut Up About Barclay Perkins blog. Together, they plan to revive around half a dozen beers a year under the name Dapper Ales.

The first brew, Doctor Brown, is a 4.1% brown ale brewed by Barclay Perkins in 1928. It will be showcased as part of Fuller's London Brewers Alliance programme and on sale exclusively in a number of Fuller's pubs. Later beers will be available to the free trade.
